The Golden Hour

The Golden Hour

Autumn has always been my favourite time of the year. Maybe having orange hair has something to do with it...

Everything just feels gold and bright and the air feels crisp and clear. I enjoy noticing the changes in the trees day by day.

A few highlights of my Autumn so far:

  • Collecting and drawing interesting leaves on a muddy walk (below)
  • Evening runs in the dark
  • Wild swimming in the cool water on a trip to Cornwall
  • Local walks along the canals
  • Cosy evenings in, crafting, including finishing Barry the puffin! (pictured below)

The above leaves were collected on a little visit to Kew Gardens. They are from the Ginko tree, not a native tree but still very pretty bright leaves. I first noticed the tree in a leafy park in Milan on my sabattical a couple of years ago. I still keep a leaf I picked up, now pressed on the back of my phone case as a little memory.

And of course.. PUMPKINS! Pumpkin curry, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pies...it's been fun to cook with the seasons.

And if you enjoy cooking seasonally you can check out my seasonal recipe postcards

Happy Autumn!
